What is Financial Aid?

 

 

There are a variety of resources available to assist students with paying for college. 

 

Grants: 
Free money that is offered to students based on demonstrated financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Loans:
Funds that the student and/or parent borrow to assist with educational expenses and must be repaid. 
Work Study:
A federal program where students earn money while attending school; funds do not have to be repaid. 
Scholarships:
Free money that does not require repayment.  Often scholarships are awarded on the basis of merit, talent, academics, or financial need.
Other:
These are resources such as Veteran’s Benefits, Tribal Scholarships/Aid, College Savings Plans, etc.
